ANSYS DesignModeler: import XYZ points from file, make splines, surfaces and body.

version: Workbench 14.0 with DesignModeler

1 make a test file with for example 2 NACA profiles of a wing. My data file(for Z coordinata i just added 0.0 and 1.0 for two profiles)
2 new WB file -> open DM-> Create-> [Point2] Point with this settings -> Generate -> looks like this
3 make splines for both profiles.[Curve2, Curve3] Concept -> 3D Curve. Select 21 points, beginning with one on training edge. Leave at this point training edge open. -> Generate -> looks like this
2+3=one step. add 3D Curve with points data, this create two curves
4 close the training edge.[Line2, Line3] Concept -> Lines From Points -> use Ctrl to select 2 points -> screenshot
5 create 2 surfaces of upper and lower plates.[Surf1, Surf2] Concept -> surfaces from Edges(here from 2 edges) -> use Ctrl to select 2 edges -> screenshot
6 create 2 lines for trailing edge [Line5, Line6] Concept -> Lines From Points -> use Ctrl to select 2 points -> screenshot
7 create traling edge surface.[Surf7] Concept -> surfaces from Edges(here from 2 edges) -> use Ctrl to select 2 edges -> screenshot
8 create wing surface.[Surf8] Concept -> surfaces from Edges(here from 4 edges:Line2,3,5,6) -> use Ctrl to select couple of edges -> screenshot. I got a Warning: Edge joints generated: 0. but it works fine for me with this warning!
8.5 alternative if many profiles Create-> Skin/Loft -> select profiles -> -> screenshot
9 create a wing body.[BodyOp3] Create -> Body Operation -> Type: Sew -> use Ctrl to select 4 surfaces(Surf1,2,7,8) -> Create Solids? YES!(to make it as a solid not a surface body) -> screenshot.
10 create a sphere, this is just to creat mesh. [Sphere1] Create -> Primitives -> Sphere -> screenshot
11 [Freeze1] Tools-> Freeze
12 Subtract wing body from sphere, this will be a domain for a fluid. [Boolean3] Create-> Boolean -> screenshot
13 Suppress Lines, we don’t need them for Meshing. Right click on [Line Body]-> Suppress Body -> screenshot
14 my tree in DM looks so
15 ready with DM, go to Meshing. -> screenshot
16 base meshing parameters. -> screenshot
17 add inflation layer at wing[Surf7] and trailing edge[Surf8] [Inflation]. Mesh right click -> Insert -> Inflation -> screenshot
18 add 2 mesh sizing for a wing[Surf7-> Face Sizing] and trailing edge[Surf8-> Face Sizing2]. Mesh right click -> Insert -> Sizing -> screenshot of wing and screenshot of trailing edge
19 Update and your mesh will have aprox. Nodes: 204637 and Elements: 919715.
20 add cut plane to see mesh inside. Button New Suction Plane
